Croatian contractor is awarded the QR 600m Industrial Interchange project

A QR 627.65 million agreement was formally signed on July 18th 2006 between a Croatian firm and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) for the construction of a major inter-change as part of the QR 8 bn Doha Expressway project.
The project connects north of Doha with the south and the east with the west and should be completed within 26 months

The Industrial Interchange is one of the nine projects of the proposed QR4bn Doha Expressway. The nerve point of the Interchange project will be the North-East corner of the Industrial Area at the intersection of Salwa Road linking Al Forousiyah Street.

The project includes the construction of a 1km underpass with three lanes of dual carriageway towards North-South, a roundabout with three-lanes and a bridge along Salwa Road with four-lane dual carriageway. A separate bridge will link Salwa Road with East Industrial Street with two lanes.

The project also includes frontage roads, infrastructure required for water, electricity, sewage works, lighting and telephone lines and landscaping, said a senior Ashghal official.

Doha Expressway is one of the major projects being handled by Ashghal. It will provide unhindered link between the North and South Zones of the country through Doha. A number of underpasses, flyovers and interchanges are being envisaged as part of the project to ensure a smooth traffic flow.

Doha Expressway also includes the "E Ring Road-Midmac Roundabout" project which will link the Midmac-Asiri Interchange to the intersection of E Ring Road and Al Muntazah. The 3.2 km long intersection will have three lanes on each side and service roads. It also includes intersection at different levels and infrastructure and landscaping. The 8km long 'F Ring Road', 19km long 'G Ring Rod' and 5km long 'Al Muntazah Extension Road' are among other projects included in the mega Doha Expressway project.
